Interventionist Services in California

Professional intervention services for families across California, from a Los Angeles-based interventionist.

CONFIDENTIAL

The short answer

I’m based in Los Angeles, and I provide intervention services for families throughout California, including San Diego, San Francisco, San Jose, and Sacramento. Most interventions happen in person, without travel days or remote coordination getting in the way.

What We Do

What is an interventionist?

Definition

An interventionist is a trained professional who helps a family plan and hold a structured conversation with a loved one who is struggling, and helps map the next step toward support.

For California families, that usually means meeting in person from the start. I’m not coordinating a flight, and I’m not handing the in-person parts off to someone else. I’m already here.

Who We Serve

A Los Angeles interventionist, working across the state

Most of the families I work with are in California. Some are in Los Angeles. Many call from San Diego, the Bay Area, Sacramento, and everywhere in between. Either way, this is a local conversation, not a long-distance one.

If you’re specifically in the Los Angeles area, my dedicated Los Angeles pages go into more detail on the neighborhoods and nearby cities I serve directly. This page is here for California families anywhere else in the state.

Confidentiality

Planning with your privacy in mind

Privacy is central to how I work, regardless of distance. I understand that visibility and reputation can weigh on a family’s decision to seek help.

Every conversation with me is confidential, and I plan each step, including travel logistics if that’s the right approach, with your family’s privacy in mind.

The Process

Two approaches, matched to your family

I use the Johnson Model and the Invitational Model. One is more direct, the other invites the person in from the start.

I’ll help you choose the approach most likely to keep the door to help open, wherever your family is located.

Why Us

Why families and clinicians choose to work with me

CADC-III

Credentialed

I hold the Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselor III credential (Sober College), one of the highest-level counseling credentials in California.

CCMI-M

Intervention-specific

I also hold the Certified Case Manager Interventionist credential (Breining Institute), the dedicated intervention-methodology credential. The strongest practitioners hold both.

2 Models

Matched to your family

I work in both the Johnson Model and the Invitational Model, and recommend the one that actually fits your family’s situation, wherever you are in California.

Reach

Based in Los Angeles, working throughout California

I’m a Los Angeles-based interventionist, and California is where most of my work happens. Families in San Diego, San Francisco, San Jose, Sacramento, and smaller communities throughout the state reach out directly, without the travel logistics an out-of-state family usually has to think through.

Lifestyle Interventions is the Los Angeles intervention and recovery advisory practice I founded. I don’t operate a treatment facility, and I don’t take referral fees.

For families further from Los Angeles, in the far north of the state or somewhere more remote, a short flight or a drive is usually all it takes. It’s a smaller version of the same coordination I do for families outside California, just without the distance.

Who I Help

Who I help

I work with families facing substance use, alcohol concerns, and mental health struggles, among other situations.

The right approach depends on the person and the family, not on a single template, and not on geography.

What to Expect

What to Expect When You Call

The first call is a confidential conversation about what’s happening in your family and what your options look like, including cost and whether travel makes sense, before you decide anything.

For families, I’ll ask about the situation, the person, the history, and what has been tried. By the end of the call, you’ll have a clear sense of whether working together is the right fit, and what that would actually look like logistically.

For clinicians, I’ll ask about the patient, the family system, and the clinical context. I’ll tell you honestly whether an intervention is what the situation needs, or whether something else is more appropriate.

If someone you love is in immediate danger, call 988 (Suicide and Crisis Lifeline) or your local emergency services.

Frequently Asked

Frequently asked questions

Do you work with families anywhere in California, or just Los Angeles?

Anywhere in California. Los Angeles is where I’m based and where I work most often, but I travel throughout the state for families in San Diego, the Bay Area, Sacramento, and beyond.

Will you actually be there in person, or is this handled remotely?

In person, in almost every case. Since I’m already based in California, there’s rarely a reason to coordinate remotely the way I sometimes do for families outside the state.

What happens after the intervention if my loved one agrees to treatment?

I coordinate placement and stay involved through the transition. We continue with recovery mentoring and family support by phone and video after the intervention.

Do you take a fee for referring to a treatment center?

No. I don’t accept referral fees, kickbacks, or compensation from treatment facilities. My fees are paid directly by the families I work with, which protects the independence of my recommendations.

Is an intervention only for addiction?

No. I work with families facing substance use, alcohol concerns, and mental health struggles, among other situations.

I’m specifically in the Los Angeles area. Should I use this page or a different one?

Either works, but my Los Angeles pages go into more local detail on neighborhoods and nearby cities. This page is built for California as a whole.
