An interventionist is a trained professional who helps a family plan and hold a structured conversation with a loved one who is struggling, and helps map the next step toward support.
For Illinois families, that includes deciding together whether I travel to you or coordinate the process remotely, and staying involved through treatment placement either way.

How I work with families outside Los Angeles
Chicago has frequent direct flights from Los Angeles, which makes travel logistics more straightforward than the distance might suggest. That’s a practical detail, not a reason to treat the planning any differently.
When a family in Illinois calls me, I go through the same detailed conversation I’d have with any family: what’s happening, who’s involved, and what your loved one is likely to do when approached. From there, I’ll tell you honestly whether traveling makes sense or whether coordinating remotely with local support is the better fit.

Illinois is 2 hours ahead of Los Angeles. That’s a scheduling detail I plan around, not an obstacle. Illinois families aren’t always in one place, and I coordinate everyone, wherever they are, into a single, calm plan.

What to Expect When You Call
The first call is a confidential conversation about what’s happening in your family and what your options look like, including cost, before you decide anything.
For families, I’ll ask about the situation, the person, the history, and what has been tried. By the end of the call, you’ll have a clear sense of whether working together is the right fit, and what that would actually look like.
For clinicians, I’ll ask about the patient, the family system, and the clinical context. I’ll tell you honestly whether an intervention is what the situation needs, or whether something else is more appropriate.

Do you have to be physically present in Illinois for the intervention to work?
Not always. I’ve coordinated interventions remotely with a trusted local team handling the in-person parts. When I do travel, direct flights to Chicago make the logistics more manageable than the distance might suggest.
Does the time difference between California and Illinois get in the way?
No. Illinois is 2 hours ahead of Los Angeles. It’s a scheduling detail I plan around, not a barrier to working together.
How is a long-distance intervention different from a local one?
The planning and preparation work the same way. The difference is mostly logistical: how we handle timing, who’s physically in the room, and how treatment placement gets coordinated afterward.
What happens after the intervention if my loved one agrees to treatment?
I help coordinate placement with a treatment provider, whether that’s in Illinois, in California, or wherever makes the most sense for the person’s situation.
Do you take a fee for referring to a treatment center?
No. I recommend placement based on fit, not on any financial arrangement.
Is an intervention only for addiction?
No. An intervention can address mental health concerns as well as substance use, with the approach chosen to fit the situation.
Can you help if our family is spread across multiple states?
Yes. I coordinate family members wherever they are into one calm, shared plan.
