Interventionist Services in New York

Professional intervention services for New York families, wherever you’re located.

CONFIDENTIAL

The short answer

I provide intervention services for families across New York State, including New York City, Buffalo, Rochester, and Yonkers. Based in Los Angeles, I travel to New York when it’s the right call for the situation, or coordinate the process remotely with local support on the ground.

What We Do

What is an interventionist?

Definition

An interventionist is a trained professional who helps a family plan and hold a structured conversation with a loved one who is struggling, and helps map the next step toward support.

For families in New York, that means deciding together whether I travel to you or work with a trusted local team on the ground for the in-person parts, and staying closely involved through treatment placement either way.

Who We Serve

Helping families outside Los Angeles take the first step

I’m based in Los Angeles, but a lot of the families I work with call from somewhere else entirely. When a family in New York reaches out, the first conversation is no different from one I’d have with a family down the street: what’s happening, who’s involved, and what your loved one is likely to do when approached.

From there, I’ll tell you honestly whether it makes sense for me to fly out or whether coordinating the process remotely with local support is the better fit. That call depends on your timeline and what’s actually happening, not a fixed rule.

Confidentiality

Planning with your privacy in mind

Privacy is central to how I work, regardless of distance. I understand that visibility and reputation can weigh on a family’s decision to seek help.

Every conversation with me is confidential, and I plan each step, including travel logistics if that’s the right approach, with your family’s privacy in mind.

The Process

Two approaches, matched to your family

I use the Johnson Model and the Invitational Model. One is more direct, the other invites the person in from the start.

I’ll help you choose the approach most likely to keep the door to help open, wherever your family is located.

Matched to your family

I work in both the Johnson Model and the Invitational Model, and recommend the one that actually fits your family’s situation, whether I’m traveling to you or coordinating remotely.

Reach

Based in Los Angeles, serving families across New York

I’m based in Los Angeles, and I work with families throughout New York State, including New York City, Buffalo, Rochester, and Yonkers.

Lifestyle Interventions is the Los Angeles intervention and recovery advisory practice I founded. I don’t operate a treatment facility, and I don’t take referral fees.

A family’s situation rarely fits in one city, and my work doesn’t either. Wherever everyone actually is, I bring it together into a single, calm plan, so geography doesn’t become one more thing to manage.

Who I Help

Who I help

I work with families facing substance use, alcohol concerns, and mental health struggles, among other situations.

The right approach depends on the person and the family, not on a single template, and not on geography.

What to Expect

What to Expect When You Call

The first call is a confidential conversation about what’s happening in your family and what your options look like, including cost and whether travel makes sense, before you decide anything.

For families, I’ll ask about the situation, the person, the history, and what has been tried. By the end of the call, you’ll have a clear sense of whether working together is the right fit, and what that would actually look like logistically.

For clinicians, I’ll ask about the patient, the family system, and the clinical context. I’ll tell you honestly whether an intervention is what the situation needs, or whether something else is more appropriate.

If someone you love is in immediate danger, call 988 (Suicide and Crisis Lifeline) or your local emergency services.

Frequently Asked

Frequently asked questions

Do you have to be physically present in New York for the intervention to work?

Not always. I travel to New York when that’s the right fit for your family, or I coordinate with a trusted local team handling the in-person parts while staying closely involved throughout.

How is a long-distance intervention different from a local one?

The planning is the same. What changes is how the in-person parts get handled, either I travel to you or I coordinate with local support on the ground, while staying involved in every decision.

What happens after the intervention if my loved one agrees to treatment?

I coordinate placement and stay involved through the transition. We continue with recovery mentoring and family support by phone and video after the intervention.

Do you take a fee for referring to a treatment center?

No. I don’t accept referral fees, kickbacks, or compensation from treatment facilities. My fees are paid directly by the families I work with, which protects the independence of my recommendations.

Is an intervention only for addiction?

No. I work with families facing substance use, alcohol concerns, and mental health struggles, among other situations.

Can you help if our family is spread across multiple states?

Yes. Families are often spread across different states. I coordinate everyone into a single plan regardless of where each person is located.
